Purpose of Contact Tracing in Slowing Disease Transmission

Mode of Transmission_v2-01

COVID-19 spreads via droplets from the mouth and nose from a sneeze, cough, breathing or talking. Risk factors that increase transmission include if people are within 6 feet /2meters of an infected person for 15 minutes or more, direct physical contact with an infected person, direct care for an infected person without using PPE or being in closed environments such as classrooms or public transportation.

The Purpose of Contact Tracing

Contact tracing for COVID-19 is finding🔍 people who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to prevent them from passing the virus onto others. You should check on them daily for 14 days 🗓from the day they may have been exposed. Advise people who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to quarantine to slow the spread of COVID-19. Contact tracing can prevent the spread of the virus from an infected person by quickly idenitifying those who might be infected and asking them to isolate.
